I’m so delighted to reveal my new look for 2017:
My logo was designed by the very talented IsleNoire and I am so pleased with how it has turned out. It very much reflects the new direction I’m hoping to take my Etsy shop in this year.
I’m intending to focus a lot more on my metalwork jewellery, and to take my knitted designs to the next level with some Fair Isle inspired goodies.
In the meantime, here is a sneak peak of some of my latest hammered pieces:
I’ve been experimenting with something new over the last few months and I’m happy to say I think I’ve cracked it!
If you’re in the UK, you will have had a pretty disappointing summer so far. We had a few days of heat and sunshine but that now feels like a distant memory – did it actually happen?? Anyway, it looks as if we will have to inject our own fun and brightness into our days and that’s what my new range of knitted cotton jewellery is all about.
The range is made with funky vibrant colours of cotton yarn and silver plated findings to create knitted earrings and bangles. It’s colourful and light to wear and easy on the purse strings – allowing you to mix and match different colours. The chunky knitted bangles are particularly suited to this – I think three bangles in contrasting colours creates the perfect laid back summer look!
For the duration of the summer, you can get 10% off my new knitted jewellery (and indeed anything in my Etsy shop) with coupon code SUMMER2015. Simply use the code at checkout before 31 August 2015.
Here’s hoping for a brighter summer!
I’ve been busy working on my range of Heart Cross Stitch Earrings and thought I would share the range with you. They make the perfect gift for a loved one on Valentine’s Day, or indeed a birthday or anniversary. They are simple in design yet carefully hand stitched from gorgeous cotton shades, including some hand dyed variegated cottons to create a truly unique piece of jewellery.

Need a custom colour? I have pretty much every shade of cotton under the sun so just get in touch for the perfect bespoke gift!
I’m appalled at my lack of blogging lately, and will endeavour to bring you more regular updates of the world of Emma Dickie Design this year!
I am still going through a gradual redesign of my shop – streamlining my products and clearing out some of my older designs in order to make way for new goodies. (You can have a peek at my clearance items right here…)
At the end of last year I created my first ever Fair Isle hat and this will be listed in my shop shortly. It wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be and so thrilling to see the pattern begin to come to life as I knitted each round. If you’ve been intimidated by Fair Isle knitting in the past I urge you to give it a try and see for yourself just how easy it is!
I’m also still experimenting with metalwork – I got a new drill and hammer for Christmas so expect to see some new metalwork jewellery soon (although I have kept the first pair of earrings for myself)!
As Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, I’ve been making a lot of Cross Stitch Heart Earrings, and was delighted when a pair of them was featured in the latest issue of Sew Magazine!
So, that’s the latest news from me… but I’m hoping to be back again soon with another update!
As you may know, I’m currently reworking my shop and moving in a new direction which will focus on hand crafted metalwork jewellery.
This weekend I decided to take a break from working on the house and devoted my Saturday to making jewellery. The hours just flew by and although I had hoped to get more done I am really pleased with what I’ve accomplished!
These Cross Stitch Earrings are made using sterling silver sheet which is hammered for texture and drilled to create holes for cross stitching.
I love the simplicity of the design and I’ve already ordered more sheet silver to create variations of these earrings.
I’m not planning to completely stop making beaded jewellery, however I love the feeling of satisfaction that comes with creating something completely from scratch – right down to the ear wires.
Keep your eyes peeled for more metalwork jewellery coming soon!
I’ve not been very good at blogging regularly recently but I have been a busy bee!
I had great fun at the weekend trying out my new anvil and hammers and I love the results. Wire can be instantly transformed from a simple piece of jewellery into something beautifully textured and unique.
A lot of my latest designs seem to feature hearts but I’m a bit late for Valentine’s Day, however hearts make a wonderful gift for the one you love anytime of the year!
I’ve also been working on a side project for a friend of mine. This uber geeky/fantabulous cross stitch features a scene from Monkey Island and is going to be turned into a cushion as a house warming gift.
The thread I’m using for the sky has been hand dyed by The Rainbow Girl – I absolutely love using her threads for their amazing blend of colours!
It’s not long now until the most romantic day of the year is upon us. Show how much you care with handmade jewellery or a cross stitched Valentine’s Day Card.
